Pioneers! O Pioneers!

Come my tan-faced children,
Follow well in order, get your weapons ready,
Have you your pistols? have you your sharp-edged axes?
Pioneers! O pioneers!

For we cannot tarry here,
We must march my darlings, we must bear the brunt of danger,
We the youthful sinewy races, all the rest on us depend,
Pioneers! O pioneers!

. . .

  1. Loveland Pass is still relatively un-skiable, and it was good to see that the even the wookieest of the wookiees are steering clear on the weekdays. Don't be stupid, guys - spend a few minutes heading down the other side, and hit A Basin or Keystone. Your boards will thank you. But I'm sure we'll still see a bunch of idiots gearing up tomorrow and Sunday. It was practically on-piste last week with the number of people going "backcountry".

Lewanee chair is open over the Basin now, and the skiing down Lewanee face is PRIME. There's a bit of pow to poach on either side. Get up there early and get a few runs in before it's tracked out. Terrain park is still weak.

FYI too - with the warm weather the bighorn sheep have been out on the Pass en force. Take it SLOW. Bighorns do not fear cars whatsoever and will wander across the road at will. Oh, and I would think it goes without saying, but apparently some of the drivers today didn't realize... that it's probably not a good idea to pull over 20 feet away for photo ops, on the same side of the road as a 250 lb male.

Looks like Ill be consulting for the rest of the season so I should still be able to get in regular weekday runs. Set me up for posting my brother.
